Love the Brain? Done 'The Brain Speaks' class?

Want to understand what we worked with even better?

What if we could open up the head and see exactly where structures are in relation to where we can reach them from?

Oh yes!

What if we could explore the different parts of the brain and understand the different shapes within the tissue?

Just wait until you see how amazing they look!

Got more questions about the anatomy of the craniosacral system?

Let's look at all the aspects of it we can. Like the bones of the skull, the membranes, the vertebrae, the spinal cord, the cranial nerves... whatever you'd like that we can find.

This is The Brain and the Head in the Dissection Lab.

We'll spend our time exploring pre-dissected specimens, that have been exposed to different extents, to enable us to see many of the structures we learn about as we study, but that can be hard to visualise precisely.

For this day we will focus specifically on the brain as well as the anatomy of the craniosacral system, including the bones in detail, the membranes and how they sit around the brain and spinal cord. We will also look at the main branches of the cranial nerves and the ways they travel through various structures to reach their destinations.

Things that are hard to see?

There are also many beautifully prepared 'pots' - dissections showing specific parts of theses structures - that have been shared by many lecturers and students over the years and we are honoured to be able to show you too.

You will have the chance to ask questions, explore the structures for yourself and guide the day to suit yourselves as a group. It really is the most amazing opportunity and we are extremely privileged to have this access.

This course will be presented by Caroline Barrow at the London Bridge, Guy’s campus of King’s College University. It is not affiliated to the university in any way.

Note that places are limited to 16 and do usually fill fast so book soon if you know you want to come.

FAQs

These are the questions we are often asked - if we haven't covered your query please get in touch.

  • How many places are there on this course?

We limit it to 16 as any more and it gets harder to see all the things we are pointing out!

  • Will we actually be dissecting?

No. There are not enough available bodies for this. Also, it takes a long time, is actually quite challenging, really smelly and we would not be able to cover as much. However, we will see a variety of different specimens dissected to different degrees so you will definitely get the sense of what is where from all angles.

  • If I book and I can't make it what will happen?

If we are able to re-sell your space then we will happily transfer your booking to the next class (or possibly offer a refund in exceptional circumstances). But as the numbers are so important for these classes we will not be able to offer refunds once places are booked as we rely on numbers to book the facilities appropriately.

Please see our terms and conditions page (link at bottom of this page) for more info.

  • Where will the course be held?

We are privileged and honoured to be able to make use of the extraordinary facilities at Kings College London; the course is at Guys Campus, near London Bridge.

  • Can I pay by BACS instead of via this website?

Yes you can. Just email us ASAP to make sure we reserve a place for you and we will send the account info to transfer into. We will hold that place for 48 hours while awaiting payment.

  • I've done it before - is it worth coming again?

I've lost count of the number of times I've done it and I still learn something new, understand something from a different angle and remind myself of things I've learned before, every single time. But if you have visited before I don't think you would even be asking this question as you'll know exactly how amazing it is...!
