Anatomy Real 2010 - SPECIAL FOCUS DAYS

The REVAMPED Anatomy Real FOR 2010 will STILL BE...

    BLENDING Theory and Practical learning...

        Deepening UNDERSTANDING and

                IMPROVING YOUR PRACTICE

BUT FOR THIS YEAR OUR NEW, SPECIAL FOCUS DAYS LOOK AT 3  AREAS:

        the BACK

            the HANDS and FEET

                   the CIRCULATORY SYSTEM

They still take place in the amazing facilities at Kings College London and we still feel extraordinarily privileged to be able to offer you these fantastic opportunities to explore and examine REAL ANATOMY, using a variety of previously dissected CADAVER SPECIMENS.

 What each FOCUS DAY offers:

  • 3 mornings on the theory working with the skeleton and other interactive learning
  • 3 afternoons in the lab, looking for real at the structures studied in the morning
  • Lots of time for informal discussions and questions about all the things you are seeing, holding (if you want to) and many of those things you've wondered about
  • Time to see, in true 3-d, what you do know and fill in the gaps of what you're less sure about
  • The chance to explore:
  • individual specimens, hands on and up close (or as close as you choose to get anyway!)
  • why the bones have all their bumps and groves, how they fit  together
  • exactly how the various structures lie in relation to each other
  • what the different fascial structures look like
  • a variety of our unique anatomical features!

The FOCUS DAYS will not lecture you with information or require copious note taking (although we hope that we may occasionally say something you may consider interesting enough to write down!). It will test and challenge your knowledge to help you piece together what you already know about while it fills in any gaps. Many past students have said it is helpful to do a little review of the subject before they come.. Maybe not as many actually have but if you can find the time it does make the experience even more worthwhile!

  THE BACK - Weds 5 May 2010

Can you visualise and work with the differnt ligaments, muscle groups, bone structure and nerve pathways as you are working on people's back and spines? You will be able to after this day! You will have learned the names, seen the layout and know lots of cool stuff about the fascia, ligaments and movementof our backs and pelvis.

THE HANDS AND FEET - Weds 2 June

How often do these important areas get left out of detailed study? If you have never really looked at your hands and your feet then this day is for you! Get clear on the anatomical detail, cover a few common injuries and problems and spend a little time comparing the interesting features of the hand and foot.

THE CIRCULATORY SYSTEM - Thurs 1 July

More and more people have asked me to do a special day on this topic as it is often not covered in that much detail in other courses. So I have finally put one together... It will include all the obvious stuff: general names and pathways of the vessels, their structure , what they run to, near and from, and hopefully a few other less obvious details to pique your interest.

  Should I do this?

Where else can you get this unique mixture of theoretical and intensely practical, 3-d, hands on true understanding of our anatomical brilliance? Taught with reference to our work as CAM and health practitioners? With the opportunity to ask as many questions as you like?

This course will be presented by Caroline Barrow and demonstrators from Kings College University. Please note the course is not affiliated to the university in any other way.

Apart from commenting that it is helpful to do some preparatory review before you come, past students have also said:

'I think the course is very well laid out - I thoroughly enjoyed it and felt it was a very valuable experience'

'Your enthusiasm was really motivating. Well worth the money!'

'The opportunity to explore the Gordon Museum was excellent'

'An excellent 4 days! I am now much clearer in 3D terms and have much more inspiration for finding ways to learn this stuff.'

ANATOMY REAL IN ITS MORE GENERAL FORM WILL BE BACK IN 2011!
